Two injured in serious crash in houston.

Two people suffered injuries as the result of a serious crash with an 18-Wheeler in Houston. The big rig accident happened as the truck was crossing Blankenship Drive onto Kempwood Drive.

Reportedly, a car failed to stop and slammed into the side of the truck, pinning the driver and passenger inside. The Houston fire department responded and rescued the two people from under the truck. Both the male driver and female passenger were transported to the hospital in stable condition.

Luckily, their injuries are said to be minor. The truck driver was uninjured in the crash.

Accident Under Investigation

The accident is being investigated to determine the cause and to find out if alcohol or drugs played a role. Although the car hit the truck in this case, the cause must still be determined. Sometimes a crash investigation or re-creation needs to be completed to find out what happened immediately before, during, and after the crash.

There are many factors that may cause or contribute to a crash. For example, the truck driver may have disobeyed a traffic signal, may have been speeding, or could have fallen asleep behind the wheel. The area where the accident occurred may have been unlit, which could have contributed to the crash. The cause of a crash may not be immediately apparent and all the evidence must be reviewed before a determination can be made.

In this case, both drivers and passenger can provide statements regarding what happened to cause the incident. It is very important that you seek legal assistance following a serious accident with a truck or any other vehicle.

Negligence in Truck Crashes

The negligent party needs to be determined after a crash. Insurance companies will generally utilize as many resources as possible to protect their insured and to avoid having to pay for damages. As the injured party in a crash, you need to protect your rights.

It is helpful to get guidance from an experienced truck accident attorney after a collision. Your lawyer will gather facts regarding the crash and will take whatever steps are necessary to prove the other driver was negligent.

When a driver is negligent, it means that he or she is responsible for the crash. In many accidents, both drivers are partly to blame for what happened. For example, one driver may have caused the crash by failing to stop at a traffic light, but the other driver may have been speeding, which is also a negligent act. The court will assign a portion of responsibility to each driver and damages will be recovered accordingly.

Many of these types of cases are settled before they get to court. Your attorney will negotiate a fair settlement with the insurance company. Your settlement must adequately provide payment for medical expenses, future care, lost wages and other damages.
