Sunday evening, a man from Magnolia was involved in an accident that resulted in the death of a local woman. According to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department, the incident occurred at about 1 AM Sunday morning on state 105.
The impact of the two vehicles was so severe it knocked over a Mitsubishi SUV, which was occupied by two teenage girls, aged 18 and 15, as well as their aunt and uncle. View photos of the accident by clicking here.
Unfortunately, the wreck resulted in the death of a woman. According to reports, the driver of the pickup truck that struck the Mitsubishi attempted to flee the scene on foot. The ensuing search located the suspected driver at a local hospital seeking treatment for a broken arm, according to reports.
Reports further indicate that not one but two assistant district attorneys interviewed the suspect at the hospital along with troopers. The driver was arrested and charged with intoxication, manslaughter with a vehicle, and other charges, according to reports.
The truck that was in the accident also struck a powerline pole, which resulted in power outages in the immediate area. It is hard to say the speed of the vehicles, but with the severity of the impact, it is highly unlikely that the accident occurred at lower speeds.
Our hearts go out to the family of the woman who was killed in the accident and the other victims.
